We recently published part 1 in our two-part series on our favorite patio materials. Today, we’re finishing up the series with part 2–and a few more of our top picks for durable, beautiful patio materials that will last for years.
Bluestone
Bluestone is one of our absolute favorite materials to use on patios and porches. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, bluestone is dense and textured, making it the perfect material for an area that sees a lot of foot traffic. Additionally, blue stone can stand up to the harshest weather conditions. Even under Tennessee rain and winter ice, your bluestone patio will hold up for years. It’s a great material for poolside patios due to its non-slick surface and ideal for outdoor kitchen areas due to its extreme durability.
Concrete
Concrete is a classic patio material–and for good reason! It’s durable, cost-effective and doesn’t sink or warp with sun light or exposure to the elements.
Many homeowners assume concrete is the boring, non-aesthetic choice for a patio. And several years ago, they might have been correct. Luckily, concrete and concrete design has come a long way. With the right contractor, you can get a concrete patio that looks nothing like your neighbors–or anyone else’s, for that matter.
Concrete Pavers
Concrete pavers have a much different look than poured concrete. Pavers have a more dimensional, hand-placed aesthetic, similar to the brick pavers we mentioned in part 1 of our series.
One of the biggest concerns with poured concrete is that it will crack. Concrete pavers create a unique solution to this concern. Not only do the pavers eliminate the risk of unsightly cracks spreading through your concrete patio, they also offer added protection against weather.
