Newest siding options offer clean, crisp look – Investment is often rewarded when time to sell

An older home almost always needs work. The attic fans stop turning. The hairline crack in the bathroom ceiling gets bigger. And the exterior, if it’s not been painted in a while, mostly likely needs a fresh coat.
But how does a homeowner decide which project to spend money on first? If you judge by return on investment, the answer is easy: siding, siding, siding.
In recent years, the annual Remodeling magazine cost-versus-value report has produced the same winner over and over: siding. In 2008 in the region that includes Nashville, upscale insulated vinyl siding replacement reaped, on average, 91.5 percent of its cost upon resale. Fiber cement siding came in at 90.2 percent, and midrange vinyl siding was 84.6 percent. Click here to read more.
