When these homeowners in Nashville’s Crieve Hall neighborhood bought their house earlier this year, they knew there was something missing out back. That’s where we came in, putting up a patio cover over their existing deck space.
We love projects like this–where we get to work with a home’s existing structure, making the old work with the new. The before and after effect at this particular house is especially dramatic because the covered patio gives the impression of a bigger home overall, serves as a bridge between indoors and out, and transforms the whole look of the house.
Here’s what all we did:
— Built an 18′ X 16′ patio cover
— Removed existing rails, installed 6×6 supports, and then reinstalled rails
— Added additional support under the deck to support the additional load
— Ran wiring with exposed conduit for a ceiling fan
— Installed and painted hardie board siding on the side wall angles
— Installed beaded board with trim strips on the interior ceilling, then painted it
— Matched exterior overhangs to the existing home trim
— Installed gutters, downspouts, and shingles to match home
— Paint supports with existing clients stain to match deck
— Our work on this patio cover came with our lifetime workmanship warranty.
Not only is this space perfect for this young family to spend time outdoors, but it couldn’t come at a better time, say these football fan homeowners. Roll out the big screen, fire up the grill, and their new patio area is the new best place in the house to watch the game.
Plus, what’s better than having a place out of the elements to watch a thunderstorm roll in or to enjoy the breeze rustled up by a pair of ceiling fans?
